SinusLeistungsSteller - SLS Development/2012 |
In this section we provide frequently news on development and progress ... Details about the SLS are found here (click...) 07.12.2012: The first prototypes of the electronic battery switch (EBS) were tested successfully! ... click here! ![]() 30.11.2012: Just for fun: ... Father & Son Süß are testing the partial load reliability of our SLS-42-110... 24.11.2012: All attentive readers will probably know that long update breaks do not affect our development in a negative manner, it is more the opposite: the longer the breake the more news we are able to provide! Today I can announce double progress: - EBS (electronic battery switch)... combines main switch and fuse in one device ... motivation/description ![]() ... prototypes end of 2012, series 1Q/2013 ... first images coming soon - cSLS/SLS firmware enables a speed dependent AC-current- or torque-profile! E.g. propeller curves can be monitored better or more motors (SLS+motor) can operate together onto a common shaft. This opens up new possibilities ... :-) ... more details coming soon 28.08.2012: Frequently we were asked for a SLS-Windows-Monitor in english language. From version 1.464 the Windows-Software can be switched over to english (click on the small flag in main menues bottom right corner). For the moment we provide this version as a BETA-version ready for download: SLS_WMonitor_1.464.msi (2.5 MByte) The BETA-version includes now support for the operating system Windows 7... 16.07.2012: During last week the Frisian Solar Challenge 2012 was performed. The boat supported by our SLS-60-200-1PM of the Private Energy Solar Team (No. T83) made the 2. place! ... details here! 05.07.2012: More improvments of the SLS hardware enables now the 200Aac-version with only one power module, i.e. "-1PM" to be build. The 200Aac-models with 2 power modules "-2PM" will be produced and delivered only on request. Standard model will be the 1PM-version. This allows a price adjustment downwards! All in all we developed our model-versions according to the wishes of our "customers" - this creates also space for new: the cSLS (probably the smallest sine controller in the world!) can now be delivered... ... we will remember the second power module for the SLS-60-300-2PM! 14.04.2012: A big progress represents the new firmware V1.470 . Until now: a safe distance ("Headroom") needed to be maintained between the RPM-torque curve and the true motor curve - the limitation of the work space was made by introducing a linear border, as shown in the left image. Now it is possible, to approach the motor curve directly with the operation point and fully exploit the possibilities of the motor (right image). The update of the SLS-Windows-Monitor to version V1.461 makes this firmware improvement graphically visible - but only, if the SLS/cSLS was delivered with the KL-option. ![]() ![]() From today we provide the firmware in a seperate SLS and cSLS version for download - latest only for our Beta tester, because the cSLS is not yet officially available. The hardware differences of SLS and cSLS forced us to compile the source code seperately for both versions. A SLS can therefore not operate with cSLS firmware and vice versa. The Windows-Monitor assures, that only suitable firmware will be booted on the connected hardware. 25.02.2012: More and more SinusLeistungsSteller with different power levels must be build and tested. To ease the power test of the controllers, a motor-/generator-couple based on two HPD 13,5-motors was built. Both motors were equipped with a low-resistance copper-tape windings, were built in a stiff frame and was mechanically connected by a clutch. Now we can comfortably perform high-current tests far beyond 200Aac - simply on our table! Compared to our previously used propeller test-bench, this means a faster test cycle, with significantly reduced energy consumption and a reduced noise level... regardless of the weather! A important point, since we can operate our propeller test-bench only outdoors! If required both SLS (generator and motor controller) will be operated with water cooling - small currents can be run without cooling. At high currents the motors operate properly without any heat problems: even at longer operation at 200Aac, we did not measure temperatures over 60°C. The copper windings should therefore be suitable up to 300Aac (with additional in-built fans even more) ...our goal, to reach 400Aac seems closer than ever! :-) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 19.01.2012: The SLS-Family now offers 3 completely new variants! ... Here they are: cSLS-24-75... Udc_max=24V, Iac_max=75A(rms), 9x470µF/25V/ZLH, over all dimensions: 77 x 54 x28mm cSLS-42-75... Udc_max=42V, Iac_max=75A(rms), 9x220µF/50V/ZLH, over all dimensions: 77 x 54 x30mm cSLS-60-70... Udc_max=60V, Iac_max=70A(rms), 9x100µF/100V/ZLH, over all dimensions: 77 x 54 x36mm ![]() ![]() ![]() The first prototypes are equipped with a basic assembly of 9 input caps (optional: up to 17 caps are possible!). On the motor/generator-loop test-bench, all 3 cSLS were succesfully tested up to their nominal currents. In order to document this, the test-buildup, the controller temperature and the measured data for the cSLS-60-70 are shown below: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() With the selected set point (partial load at only 5% or 500rpm), the full current occurs only at the AC-/motor-side. On the DC side only small current flows. This is also clearly visible in the thermal image. Finally, the 4mm²-motorlines reached a temperature of about 90°C - but thanks to the silicon cables all within a safe range. The input caps remained very cool... The cSLS-60-70 was mounted with clamps on a heatsink. The heatsink stored the controller losses only in its thermal capacity - this means no fans were used! After 3 minutes under maximum current the cSLS barely managed to overcome 50°C, while the motor/generator were boiling at a temperature far beyond 120°C. This shows that the cSLS in fact has some reserves to offer ... :-) ![]() cSLS6070_01.slt All trace-data in the image shown will be available for download in form of a *.SLT-file.
